The exact sequence I run when opening a new restaurant, cafe or bar outlet in India, from eight weeks out to week eight after doors open.
I have opened outlets of my own and launched many for clients, and the pattern is always the same: the brands that open loud and hold their crowd are the ones that treated the launch as a campaign, not a date. Here is the checklist I run.
Nail the positioning, the angle that separates you from the hundred places around you. Book the MK Studios shoot: food, room, team. Build the asset kit, grid, reels, listing imagery, menu design, so nothing is rushed in the final fortnight.
Instagram, Google Business Profile, Zomato and Swiggy listings, all claimed and consistent. Website or landing page live with the menu and a booking path. WhatsApp Business set up so the first enquiry gets a fast, human reply.
Behind-the-scenes content from the build. A soft teaser to a warm list. Early reach-out to local food voices, chosen for fit, not follower count. The goal is that the right people already know you exist before the doors open.
Announce the opening date and a launch offer. Open reservations or waitlists. Run the first small radius ad aimed at the catchment. Pin the menu, the location and the reason-to-come everywhere a guest might look.
Friends-and-family first to stress-test service and seed reviews. Then the public push: daily content, the launch offer live, ads dayparted to decision hours, and a review ask at every happy table. Capture every guest into WhatsApp or loyalty on the way out.
The opening spike always fades. The work is retention: a content calendar that keeps the feed alive, offers aimed at the hours that dip, a loyalty hook that brings the first guests back a second and third time, and steady review building. Measure covers, not reach.
Most launches fail in week three, when the opening buzz drops and nothing was built to replace it. Run the launch as a campaign with a pre-buzz phase and a week-eight retention plan, and you open loud and stay full. If you are planning an opening, message me on WhatsApp and I will pressure-test your plan.
Send me your Instagram or Google listing on WhatsApp. I'll tell you what I would fix first, no pitch, no deck.
